TNPSC Group 3 Exams
TNPSC (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) has handled the job of giving employment to persons in various services of the State Government of Tamil Nadu which also involves the State, Subordinate and Ministerial Services. It has always been TNPSC’s endeavor to upgrade and improve its prevalent procedures of selection in order to select the best candidates for the various public services. However in doing so it has always followed the policy of recruitment and reservation of the State Government. TNPSC exams have two types of recruitment: Direct recruitment and Indirect. Moreover TNPSC exams have four groups namely Group 1,2,3 and 4.Each group has a separate exam and each group corresponds to a different hierarchy of posts in the government sector of Tamil Nadu.
Group 3 exams are almost the same as group 2 exams with the only difference being that they give candidates a chance to bag different posts in the government sector. Group 3 exam offers posts which are not as high profile as an IAS or IPS or group 1 post but at a more clerical level. Group 3 exams also have the entire syllabus of your high school from the 6th to the 10th standard as its syllabus. Over the years there has been a high inflation of students wanting to appear for the group 3 exams and thus the authorities are mulling over the prospect of converting this two stage exam into a three stage exam so that the best candidates can filter through. The pattern of questions in this exam is quite simple but needs a thorough knowledge of common affairs, social, historical and economic background of India, especially Tamil Nadu and good concept of general English.
Some of the posts that candidates are likely to get on clearing the group 3 exam are-veterinary assistant surgeon, accounts officer, fisheries inspector, junior architects, etc.
Notifications of all the Group exams are given much in advance in almost all the local and national newspapers.
