TNPSC 2010

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has been working successfully for the past 75 years. From the year of its inception till 1970, it was called as Madras public Service Commission. During the year 1970, when the name of the state was changed as Tamil Nadu, the name of the commission was also changed as Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

The State Public Service Commissions are dealt by the articles 316 to 319. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is lead by the Chairman and it consists of fourteen other members. All these members are appointed by the Governor of the State.

Meeting is conducted between all the members of the commission at regular intervals and during these meetings, essential decisions, guidelines, policies and rules regarding different issues is framed. The responsibility of the implementation of decisions made during these meetings vests with the secretary of the commission. The secretary is also responsible for conducting oral tests for recruitment, departmental promotion committees, handling day-to-day administration, etc… The responsibility of issuing notification regarding the examination, conducting departmental examination and recruitment, vests with the controller of exams.

The TNPSC departments are lead by Joint Secretary and Deputy Secretaries. Under secretaries, each section is lead by the section officers and other secondary staff. TNPSC office is situated at Omanthoorar Government estate in Anna Salai at Chennai. Candidates can reach the TNPSC office between 10:00am and 5:45pm on all working days.
