Department Tests Of TNPSC

TNPSC Exams or Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Exams are conducted every six months for recruitment to Government services in Tamil Nadu. Recruitments are made for departments of State Government Staffs such as IAS (Indian administrative service), IPS (Indian Police Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Service), SCS (State Civil Service), TNPS (Tamil Nadu Police Service) and TNFS (Tamil Nadu Forest Service) officers. Nearly 215 tests are conducted by TNPSC for staff of various departments. The TNPSC website publishes notifications and results of all these tests.

For recruitment for IAS officers, half yearly tests are conducted. The rules for the test are laid down in the IAS Officers Manual. The syllabus for the test, recommended books and minimum marks that need to be obtained to pass and such other relevant details be found in the Manual.

The same tests are applicable for the posts of IPS and IFS officer too. Any candidate who is interested to get recruited to these posts must refer to the IAS Officers Manual.

Candidates for services like TNPS, TNFS and SCS are also selected through Half-yearly tests. There are respective manuals that guide the candidates regarding the details of the test such as syllabus, recommended books, etc.

Other than the Half-yearly examinations, candidates for posts of I.A.S., I.P.S and I.F.S. officers also need to go through a Language test, in Tamil and English.

All the TNPSC Departmental Exams except for the General Educational Test of the SSLC Standard are open to everyone. To apply for the TNPSC Departmental Tests, the candidates need to have completed 16 years of age. Those employed in Government Services can apply for reimbursement of examination fees from their departments.

The language tests include both Oral and written tests. To pass the examination, candidates must pass the written tests. In case he or she fails in the oral test, he or she will be allowed to appear the oral part alone in the subsequent examination.

The results of the tests are published in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Bulletin. Application forms and all other details of these tests can be found in the TNPSC Website and the interested candidates are suggested to go through the same.
