Age limit for All Categories in TNPSC Exams
Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts examination for directly recruiting candidates to a number of services coming under the Government of Tamil Nadu. The services are basically divided into two parts. For one service only written examination is conducted and for another both oral and written examination is conducted. Normally, TNPSC issues notification regarding the exams being conducted for each post. In this notification, the number of vacancies is also clearly specified.
For each posts, TNPSC clearly specifies the eligibility criteria, which includes the age of the candidates. Normally the age limit for almost all the posts is between 18 and 30 years. The candidate should be in the age group as on the date specified in the notification. Even though, the age limit is specified, there is no upper age limit in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories like Scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, BC, MBC and destitute widows belonging to all castes.
As far as upper age limit is concerned a relaxation of five years is applicable to certain group of people like unemployed youth and people belonging to the Government service. Candidates belonging to other castes (i.e.) other than SC, ST, BC and MBC, who have five years of experience in the Central/State Government services are not eligible to apply for TNPSC examination, even though they are between the age group of 18 and 30.
The education qualification required will differ from one post to another. Since the examination is related to the posts belonging to the Government of Tamil Nadu, the candidates should have sufficient knowledge of Tamil.
So, the candidates belonging to the age group of 18 and 30 can apply for the TNPSC examination by acquiring the application form from selected post offices as mentioned in the notification or they can also apply online through the website http://tnpsc.gov.in/.
